RCQ Design website preview

I started working with RCQ Design in 2020, which, as it turned out, was either the best or worst possible time to realize your business had basically no digital presence.

RCQ had been successfully operating through word of mouth, referrals and repeat clients. They did beautiful work and had a loyal client base, but they had no website, no social media presence and no real marketing strategy.

Then COVID happened and suddenly the entire world was online.

So we had some work to do.

Starting from scratch

The first step was figuring out how RCQ should show up online. What should the brand sound like? What should it look like? How do you take a business that has grown organically for years and translate that into something digital without losing what made it successful in the first place?

From there, I built their website from scratch.

That included the website design and structure, content direction, SEO research and implementation. I wanted the site to showcase their interior design work beautifully, obviously, but I also wanted it to actually work for the business. That meant thinking about how potential clients were searching, what information they needed and how we could make RCQ easier to find.

Then came social. I developed a social media strategy and started rolling it out consistently, building a presence around their projects, expertise, process and point of view rather than just posting a stream of pretty rooms.

And then I just... never left.

What started as helping RCQ get online turned into something much bigger. They're still a client today, and at this point I essentially operate as their in-house marketing department.

I manage their social media, make website updates, handle PR outreach, develop paid social and print advertising, and work as their graphic designer for pretty much anything that needs designing.

And I mean anything.

Ads? Yes. Client proposals? Yep. Presentations? Those too.

If it has the RCQ name on it, I want it to look and feel like RCQ.

That long-term relationship has also meant that the brand hasn't stayed frozen in whatever we created in 2020. It has been able to grow and change with the business, which is one of my favorite parts of ongoing brand and marketing work.

RCQ started with great work and a reputation that had been built almost entirely offline. My job was to build the digital side of the business around that — and I've been helping them grow it ever since.
